JOURNEYMAN TRAINING CLASS SCHEDULE 2009 - 2010

Journeyman Training Classes are about to begin. The Training Center is here to help you meet the needs of our industry. Maintaining craft skills, to insure a good future, is your responsibility. Enroll now and gain from the journeyman upgrade classes available to you as a member of Local 33.
The mechanical contractors will not be offering safety training this year. The Training Center will be holding 10 / 30 hour OSHA, CPR and First-aid classes beginning in early 2010.
Journeyman in Sioux City, Fort Dodge, Mason City and Ottumwa: Please call the Training Center if there are classes that you would like to see in your area.
*The Training Center will begin offering CEU classes for the State of Iowa Plumbing & Mechanical Licensing renewals sometime after the first of the year.*

REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING:
This class will cover refrigeration principles, fundamentals and trouble shooting Our refrigeration trainers will be featured in this class. (12 hours)
Monday through Thursday 5:00-8:00 p.m.

*This is not a code update class and will not qualify for state CEU’s*
PLUMBING CODE: This course will cover code changes, gas pipe sizing, water pipe sizing and waste and vent sizing. It will also help you prepare for journeyman and master plumbers exams. Let us know if you need a codebook. (12 hours)

November 2nd - 5th, 2009
BASIC WELDING CLASS and/or U.A. Welding Certification Prep:
Basic welding and/or preparation for U.A. Weld Certification Testing. (12 Hours)

November 9th - 12th, 2009
ELECTRICAL CONTROLS: This class will cover various electrical controls used in HVACR systems, electrical schematics and there use in troubleshooting systems.

November 9th -12th and the 16th – 17th, 2009
BACKFLOW TESTER CERTIFICATION: This course will cover installation, testing and service of theses devices. You will be certified as a Backflow Prevention Tester upon completion of this course and testing. (32 hours)
Fee: $30.00 plus book
November 16th -19th, 2009
410 A SAFE HANDLING AWARENESS TRAINING: This course will provide the participant with the safe use and application procedures of Refrigerant HFC-410A and related components & materials. Providing insight into the comparisons of HCFC-22 replacement refrigerants and corresponding equipment. Also the R-410A safety Certification through AC&R Safety Coalition will be provided.

November 30th thru December 3rd and the 7th- 8th, 2009
MEDICAL GAS SYSTEMS: This course will cover the installation of medical gas systems and brazing. You will be certified as a Medical Gas Installer and as a Medical Gas Brazer upon completion and testing. (32 hours) *test on the 10th*
Class will be from 5:00-10:00 p.m.
Fee: NITC Test plus NFPA 99c Code book = $170.00
January 11th thru 16th, 2010 *Sioux City, Iowa*

This Class will consist of: Chiller maintenance controls and repair.
